The radials attach to the base using the connector using the three aluminum legs. The Wolf River Coils TIA, out of the box, the SWR was below 2 across 20m and at about 2 on 40m. Wolf River Coils has a new accessory for Silver Bullet 500 & 1000 coils called the UAFI or You Asked For It kit. The reduced length keeps them away from things and in the clear. conclusion: do not use these coils for power levels over 400 watts. Using 16.5' wire radials rather than the original 33' ones made all the difference. Woke up this morning and found my photo background covered with snow. i have an als-600 amplifier and it made a burn spot on the coil wire setting for 40 meters. I think i would like to see them offer another set of radials. ... For example on the 20 meter band using 32 foot radials‚ I can’t get the SWR below 1.7:1- shortening the radials by winding them into a tight coil gets me a better match.
after a few days of use, it went bad. i used these coils to load a 18 vertical antenna.
The UAFI is a pair of extension rods that convert your base loaded antenna into a center loaded antenna. The kit ships with three 32′ radials with a ring connector on one end. Replaced the hamstick in Post #32 above with my Wolf River mini-coil. wolf river coils time owned: 3 to 6 months. the coil is not usable for poiwer levels over 400 watts.
Shoveled a bit and took this photo of my modified Wolf River Coil Take-It-Along kit with a dual collar. I tried radials, of different lengths, even though it is hard in the trailer court lot to even use radials, but the SWR was worse using radials, and was even harder to tune, so I removed the radials. Other than that it worked very well as portable operations on battery and solar (mostly battery as rain was passing through) on our campout.
