More and more wolves have been spotted in Belgium in recent months, both in the northern and southern parts of the country, according to environmental organisations. Wildlife experts in Belgium are getting excited to welcome the country's first set of wild wolf cubs in more than 100 years.

Wolves returned to Belgium in 2011 after being wiped out during the 19th century.
The different lone wolves are probably from the French or Italian populations. The wild wolf has returned for the first time in more than a century to Belgium, which has become the last country in continental Europe to report a sighting of the resurgent species. Since wolves were recorded arriving in Belgium, 15 sheep have been bitten to death, according to the ANB. The wolf, given the name Naya, was first sighted in Belgium in the north-east province of Limbourg in January 2018.
